Toile de Jouy and ticking, crochet and lace - classic French country style
|
I have a love Toile de Jouy that cannot be denied... This beautiful fabric originated in the 18th century, the name meaning "cloth from Jouy-en-Josas" a town in northern central France where this scenic printed fabric became particularly popular. And as they make such excellent bedfellows, I've included ticking, crochet and lace here too. I make the crochet panels on my cushions and runners in fine mercerised cotton, giving a fine finish with a subtle sheen. A labour of love with 12 hours meticulous work per panel... |
